Thank You
From two grants of $250 in 2003, the Los Banos Liberation Memorial Scholarship Foundation has grown to 15 scholarships per year for students enrolled at the University of the Philippines Rural High School in Los Banos and two scholarships for students continuing on to the University. Since the Foundation was established over 100 different individuals and groups have donated to build an endowment fund in honor of the rescue.
Although donors will always remember the bravery of the 11th Airborne Division and the Hunters ROTC Philippine guerrillas in freeing the internment camp as well as the sacrifice of the 1,500 civilians who were massacred after the rescue, most give in honor of a beloved family member. Whether a paratrooper, guerilla, or an internee, the honored family member left a legacy of strength, hope, and love for future generations.
The Los Banos Memorial Scholarship Foundation gives back to the community of Los Banos and works with families and survivors of the rescue to keep the memory of our heroes alive.
As a recipient of the Los Banos Liberation Memorial Scholarship Foundation, I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude for your generosity for I was given the privilege to be part of your scholarship foundation. I am very honored and blessed to be the recipient of this.
University of the Philippines Rural High-school has always been my dream and I can’t imagine myself attending into this prestigious school because I know that we are not financially stable and it is kilometers away from home. Luckily, when I found out that they are offering a scholarship program. I didn’t waste my chance and took the opportunity. Receiving this scholarship motivates me to study harder as well as to gain as much experience in the field that I can.
I am so grateful for your support of my education and for this amazing scholarship. I plan on using it to continue to take advantage of all the opportunities that the University of the Philippines Rural High-school has to offer. Heading into my sophomore year, I have never been this motivated to not only make myself proud, and my family, but also to make you proud as well.
Thank you once again. I promise I will do my best to prove myself that I am worthy of this opportunity. I am looking forward to the day, I am able to help other students just as you’ve helped me.
Sincerely yours,
Arijana Francine C. Diaz
Dear Los Banos Liberation Memorial Scholarship Foundation,
It has been five long years since you have given me the opportunity to continue my studies without worrying much about my finances. In that time, I have learned to be grateful not only for what I am receiving but also for the people who are continuously helping students like me even without knowing them personally. I admire your huge hearts for the unconditional love and support that you have showering us for the past years. I also learned to work harder and strive higher for me to give back and repay all the kindness and generosity that I received during my junior high school life.
Currently, I am an incoming grade 12 student taking up Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine Track and an aspiring University of the Philippines student. I promise myself that when I graduate, I will also help students like me to continue their studies just like what you did with mine. I will continue to persevere and make the foundation proud of what I have become.
I would like to say my sincerest gratitude for the foundation because of the financial help and also the experiences that mold me to what I am right now. These experiences and lessons will surely and always be a part of me even outside the school premises. I cannot emphasize how thankful I am for this opportunity but I am sure that in my every success, you have always been a part of it. Again, thank you for all the support and trust that you have given me and the other scholars.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Paula Bianca P. Paz

Dear Sir/ Madam:
Good day to you! I am writing to express my sincerest gratitude to my ever supportive sponsors who have been with me through my years in the University of the Philippines Rural High School. It has been a long five years of being a scholar of the Los Baños Liberation Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Five years was a bliss, indeed, that despite the innumerable hurdles, my dedication to study with honor and excellence has been continuously strengthened by the thought of someone supporting me along the way.
I humbly express my gratitude for the support you have willfully given me. Not all students are given the chance to become one of your scholars. Indeed, being an LBLMSF scholar is both uplifting and humbling. The scholarship provides us the drive to become good role models as well as to excel in our studies. It also imparts the sense of humility among us, scholars, that despite the unrelenting support you have continuously given us through the years of being your scholars, we must be humbled and thus take responsibility for the support you have been giving.
A lot of times, we may have thought of being less capable of acquiring the best education there is as other more fortunate students who are well provided with their needs for a quality education. Someway, somehow, we may have thought of giving up our dreams due to lack of financial capacity to achieve those. But, the scholarship pushed us to become more and more determined in achieving our goals—to serve the nation and the world. It may have been a far-fetched idea for some of us, specially me, to study in one of the Philippines’ top high school universities, but it was made possible due to the help of the scholarship.
Lastly, I want to express my sincerest gratitude for inspiring us to become better students and citizens. You have continuously inspired me to do my best despite the uncountable struggles along the way. You have imparted an unbending drive for me to achieve my goals of hopefully becoming a juris doctor one day.
The experience during the pandemic in the Philippines has also been tough for me and my fellow scholars specially because we are essentially crippled financially due to strict community and work guidelines in our area. It has also been extremely hard for us to cope with the pandemic knowing that in a few months, we will be having our first online class. I, specially, do not have enough resources to fund my needs for the upcoming online classes. It is concerning us as we do not have the sufficient resources to become fully capable of efficient and convenient online classes for the next months to come.
Sincerely Yours,
Alexandra Nivine Bautista Gagalac
